Engine Bay Cleaning

A deep clean of your engine bay prevents vital components from damage and corrosion. Leaf litter or pine needles and other material can build-up over time, causing more expensive repairs over time. Keeping the intake for the climate control clear is important, and a valuable part of washing the engine bay.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

This depends on your driving habits, but it’s a good idea to include an engine bay cleaning every 6 months or so as part of routine maintenance (around the same frequency you may get an alignment.) Your engine bay may be more likely to accumulate debris from fallen leaves, road salt, or construction site dirt so it can be a good idea to have this service performed before or after road trips or scenic drives that may be more exposed to those elements.

Many systems, like your climate control system, have exposed components within the engine bay. Additionally, the many connectors, valves, and vents associated with your engine can easily become clogged through routine road debris or even rodent incursion (squirrels or rats for those who frequently park on the street in D.C.)

An engine bay cleaning is commonly performed after a rodent incursion. If your car has been parked outside for an extended period (even in a covered parking garage) it’s not uncommon for small animals to attempt building a nest in what they see as a safe and warm space. But unless they’re going to pay rent, it’s best to clear them out as soon as you find them. An engine bay cleaning can ensure no residual twigs, mud, or street litter remain and that they haven’t gnawed components like wires or connectors.
